Before we start our egg hunt this April, we will be learning how to cope with the changing of the clocks. I think it is challenging for a lot of people to adjust, but if you are a highly sensitive person, losing an hour of sleep and then, waking up early will be unsettling for the body. I would describe the feeling of not sure when to sleep or wake up as if you are spinning and you are waiting for the spinning to stop.
The answer? Be patient with yourself as your body adjusts to the time change. This is not a good time to try to cram more productivity into your day. Allow more time to settle into your body before you go to sleep. This is a good time to give yourself an extra hour of “me” time.
Spring Forward could also be a new way to celebrate gratitude. We can be grateful that sunset will be after 7pm and that we will have more light when the work day is over.
It’s easy to grip about the time change, but let’s seize this opportunity to practice a new way. I invite you to be creative and think of one positive thing each day as we approach March 13, 2022. When you feel not your best after March 13, you can review your gratitude list.
