Happy Father's Day

On this day, I celebrate my biological father and other forms of father figures. Let me begin with my own birth father. He has always fostered good values in me and taught me to reach my own potential by never giving up. His funniest moment was when after I received my driver’s license, he created a sticker with the words, “Save Drive” and stuck it on the dash board. He meant to say “Safe Driver”, but instead, he realized that having a save drive was just as important and he now knew what he meant every time we saw “Save Drive”.

My father was not perfect and over the years, I learned that his imperfections were what made him so lovable. For all of our disagreements, we both know that we loved each other even if we don’t see things the same way. Whenever I am stuck in traffic, I think of him. Instead of complaining about the traffic, I am grateful that I can drive and have a reliable car. In my younger days when I was behind the wheel for the first time, my teacher for my driving class told me that I will never learn to drive. I cried as I told my father what had happened. My father said, “Forget him. I taught all of your siblings how to drive and I will teach you too.” Every Sunday morning in the entire summer, I was not allowed to turn on the radio in the car as I made the same right turn on the same block for 30 minutes. He was patient and corrected me on slowing down. I was disgruntled because I just wanted to be done with my lessons. He graciously told me that it was important that I am safe in my driving. Now, decades later, I thank my father when I make those perfect right turns.

Next, I want to thank the Divine Masculine quality that is in all of us. These qualities are the goal oriented actions that we call upon to meet deadlines. In addition, the Divine Masculine is about being protective and staying firm to your deep knowing. If you ever get caught in a deadlock disagreement, see if you can call in your Divine Masculine and pull away from having to prove to the other person you are right and instead, walk away from the argument with the knowing of your own inner truths.

Take a moment now to honor and appreciate the Divine Masculine inside of you and those that you see that embody the qualities that I just described. It’s also important to balance it with your Divine Feminine. I’ll discuss that quality next time!
